Yass Valley Council have organised some great activities for Yass Valley Seniors to participate in as part of the 2025 NSW Seniors Festival. Please refer to list below for all available activities offered.

All events are free to the public and are limited to one booking per person to ensure a spot for everyone to join in on the fun.

Seniors Festival kicks off with colourful Clay Bird workshop – 3 March 2025

The Yass Seniors Festival kicks off on 3 March with a colourful clay bird workshop at the Yass Community Centre form 10am to 12.30pm. Participants will craft and engrave stoneware birds using the pinch pot method, with morning tea provided by the lovely ladies from VASY.

Explore History at the War Memorial – 7 March 2025

On Friday, 7 March, a bus will depart Yass at 9.30am for a guided 90-minute tour of the Australian War Memorial, including lunch. The bus will return to Yass at 2.30pm

Seniors Festival Friday flick – 7 March 2025

Join us at the Yass Valley Library for a 10:30 screening of “The Critic” staring Sir Ian McKellen who plays a powerful London theatre critic who becomes entangled in a web of deceit and murder. 

No bookings required.

Working Bee at the Railway Museum – 10 March 2025

As part of the Seniors Festival, a working bee will be held at the Railway Museum, where seniors will help plant new garden beds. Lunch will be provided for all participants.

Watercolour Landscapes Workshop 13 March 2025

High Tea and strings at Highclere Farm – 13 March 2025

Enjoy a delightful high tea at the newly renovated Highclere Farm while listening to a string quartet from the Canberra Symphony Orchestra. Set in stunning grounds, this is a must-attend event for those who appreciate music, elegance, and beautiful surroundings.

Dance4Wellbeing to Close Seniors Festival – 14 March 2025

The Yass Seniors Festival wraps up with Dance4Wellbeing at Yass Memorial Hall on 14 March from 10am to 11.15am, followed by morning tea. This gentle, dance-based session offers music and movement for all abilities – where seated, supported, or moving across the floor.

Author talk with Nicole Alexander – 14 March 2025

Join Nicole Alexander, bestselling Australian author, for an evening discussing her latest novel “Limestone Road” at Yass Valley Library from 5:45 for a 6:00pm start.
