ANZAC Day across the Yass Valley

Residents and visitors are invited to attend one of the many ANZAC Day services being held across the region to honour and remember those who have served and sacrificed for our nation.

FRIDAY, 25 APRIL

YASS

The Yass RSL Sub-Branch welcomes the community to attend the following ANZAC Day events:

  • Dawn Service at the Yass Cenotaph: 5.45 am
    Followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at the Yass Soldiers Club.

  • Commemorative Service and Parade:
    • Parade assembles at the intersection of Comur and Lead Streets and steps off at 10:45 am.
    • Main service and wreath laying at the Cenotaph: 11:00 am
    • A community BBQ lunch will follow in Banjo Paterson Park, together with historical displays at the Soldiers Memorial Hall.

MURRUMBATEMAN

The Murrumbateman Lions Club will host their ANZAC Day Service at 9:30 am in Jones Park (opposite the pub).

  • Morning tea will be served at the Murrumbateman Country Inn immediately after the service.
  • A traditional game of Two Up will commence at 12:00 pm at the pub.

GUNDEROO

  • Dawn Service at the Cork Street Memorial: 5:30 am
    Followed by breakfast at the Gundaroo Memorial Hall.

SUTTON

  • Dawn Service on Victoria Street: 5:45 am
    Followed by a community BBQ breakfast.

WEE JASPER

  • The ANZAC Day March steps off from the bridge at 9:30 am, leading up to the Hall and main service at 10:00 am.

BINALONG

  • Day Service at Fitzroy Street: 10:00 am

BOWNING

  • Dawn Service on Short Street: 5:45 am

Thank you to the local Yass RSL Sub-Branch, and all our community organisations and volunteers involved in coordinating our community commemorations. Lest we forget.

 

ROAD CLOSURES IN YASS VALLEY

Temporary road closures will be in place during the morning to allow for the ANZAC Day parade and commemorative services. Please follow the detour signs.

  • Binalong – Fitzroy and Wellington Street
  • Gunderoo – Cork Street
  • Sutton – Victoria Street
  • Yass – Comur Street
